Full Moon party promises sleepless night!
Santa Cruz is offering the people of Tenerife a “sleepless night” on September 21st.
The city council has just released details of a Full Moon Fiesta which will take place between 8pm and 2am and include culture, sport, cuisine and music.
The Mayor, José Manuel Bermúdez says this unique initiative will “offer a range of activities for residents to enjoy a different understanding of Santa Cruz.”
There will be six stages placed in various locations to offer Full Moon performances of music from around the world, Spanish rock-pop, international jazz, boleros and DJs. The sites will be in Plaza de la Candelaria, Chicharro, Parque Bulevar, Calle Clavel, La Noria and Avenida de Anaga.
The culture touch will be added through guided tours of the city’s museums and exhibitions. These will take in the Teatro Guimerá, Museum of Nature and Man, the Tenerife Arts Space, Photographic Centre, La Recova art centre and several others.
The project has the support of several authorities and organisations, including the Canary Government. Director General of its culture de-partment, Xerach Gutiérrez said they considered this event very innovative and different “because it does not focus on the traditional concept of culture”.
On the sports side, there will be a night race under the full moon. This will be held on the streets around the Parque García Sanabria over a route of 5.2 kilometres and starts at 9pm. It is open to all standards, novices and veterans.
Registration is now open and participation can be completed on www.civildesarrollo.com. The registra-tion fee is six euros.
