Santa Cruz is offering a unique chance to join in the annual Carnival in a sporting style.
Whether you want to walk, jog, run, fast or slow and whether you are young or not so young, why not join in “La Carnival Running” on March 1st.
The course is approximately five kilometres but there is no time limit in which to complete it. Organisers want it to be fun and aimed at all the family.
One obligatory factor, however, is that you MUST wear a fancy dress costume in keeping with the Carnival (the theme this year is Cartoons). You must also be aged at least 15 and the enrolment fee is eight euros. Younger children will have their own special area to play in with water guns and an animal disguise.
There will still be a competitive edge to the event as prizes will be awarded for the first man and woman home, together with the best fancy dress costume, individuals and groups.
In association with this, there will be a photo competition so take along your camera and post them on the social network sites of Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. The best five on each will go forward to the final where members of the public will be invited to vote for their favourite and the winner will receive 100 euros.
You can read all the details on http://www.carnivalrunning.com/ including how to enter by February 15th.
